All of you seinfield fans will remember the, "serenity now" episode where George would say it every time he needed to relax. Well, this is what I found myself saying over and over again yesterday. The night before, Steve called to inform me that he would be coming home in the morning for a few days and I would have to pick him up at the airport. The kids and I were soo excited!
Well, that night when I went to check on Berlin before I went to bed, I noticed that she had an accident. So, I picked her up and changed her clothes and stuck her in my bed while I cleaned up her bed. Well, I left her in my bed and woke up the next morning soaked in urine :( eww! Not the way I like to wake up! This is really rare for Belrin. Anyway, I got up and got all of us ready to head off to the airport to get Steve.
On the freeway, right before I was about to get on the baron toll-road, I hear honking. As I look over, I see two guys yelling something and pointing at my car. When I finally had the chance to pull over, I saw I had a flat tire. FREAK! What was I suppose to do? I did the only thing I could think of and called my sister in Arizona (as if she could help with ANYTHING). I saw a Costco and a Sears on the opposite side of the street. So, I pulled back onto the road and drove really slow. Meanwhile, the jacka$$ behind me kept honking and riding my tail the whole time. Once again, not thinking, I flipped him off and called him and idiot. When is the last time you have flipped anyone off? Seriously, I don't know where it came from. I am soo embarrassed. Berlin quickly reminded me that "we don't say idiot!" Oops!
I finaly got to Costco and they told me they could fix it, but I that I needed to replace all the tires. Whatever, I was over it at this point.
SERENITY NOW!!
So, I called Steve (who had just landed at DIA) and told him to chill for about 1 1/2 hours at the airport. There was nothing to do outside of Costco (remember, the only thing within walking distance is Sears, and who really wants to go hang out at Sears?) So, after tasting every sample twice, three berry smoothies, one whole box of cookies, and three meltdowns, we were back on the road. My kids hit their sugar load a long time ago. We picked up Steve and headed back home. Steve, of course, didn't get the day off so he had to head right into work. I was stuck with sleep deprived, sugar induced kids.

Remember the flat tire in your Corrolla when we were moving up to the U when you had the car packed to the hilt and the poor sucker that pulled over to help you had to unload everything to get to your tire? But we found a different way for "serenity now" back then. Sigh.
TEARS ARE STILL FLOWING!!! You cracked me up- HARD!!!! Love you Hailers! Serenity NOW!!!
Since I've become a mother...
1. I swear. EVERYDAY. A LOT. I am so WORRIED that when I pick up Maili from preschool or nursery that the teacher is going to tell me that she said a NAUGHTY word that she learned from her potty-mouthed mother. Oops.
2. I REALLY wish I could sip a few margaritas and call it SERENITY NOW. Every night, would be good. I guess I'll just settle with Diet Coke.
Serenity now!
