Meet DANALI. Or Ramona Quimby look-alike

Does anyone remember the Ramona Quimby books? I loved them as a kid. I remember, Ramona the brave, Ramona the Brat,etc.. My neighbor Danali looks just like her....

OK. So as many of you have read in Jamie's previous blogs that she prayed for CJ to meet a best friend when they moved to Idaho. Well, I prayed for the same thing. We got DANALI!! It is known that Berlin can be, well, naughty. She has finally met her match.

First Impression
Day 1 in Colorado: I see a cute girl standing next the fench on the side of our house. I say, " Berlin let's go meet that cute girl!" Berlin anxiously runs over to say hi through the fence (holding a cookie in her hand). Danali doesn't say a word, but grabs Berlin's cookie through the fence with this Bully look on her face and walks away. Berlin runs off crying.

2nd Impression
I meet the Mom who quickly becomes one of my great friends. As we are introducing ourselves, Danali climbs into my car and rubs a whole bottle of SUNSCREEN all over my leather seats and the entire interior of the car. No big deal right?

3rd impression
Danali comes over to play (she and Berlin quickly become best friends) and goes into our bathroom to go potty. Well, 15 minutes later I hear the water running and notice that I haven't seen Danali. She has locked herself in the bathroom and can't get out, so I have to break in to find her washing my hardwood floor and walls with the remainder of my hand soap that she hasn't dumped on her hair. DANALI! I Swear I didn't think I would ever yell at someone else's kid, but the list goes on and on and well, she and Berlin are out to bully the entire neighborhood. HEAVEN HELP ME!!!!!!

YESTERDAY
Danali, once again, comes over to play. She starts putting stickers all over her body, Berlin quickly follows suit. No big deal. I am not going to fight this battle. Well, after they are done having their fun, I tell them that they have to clean up and put the stickers back that are lying everywhere on the floor. I sit on the other side of the counter and start cleaning up the toys and notice in three minutes of silence they have gotten out the glitter glue and have rubbed it all over my floor, their bodies, and best of all, sweet little Jamison who was just trying to keep up with the big kids. I SWEAR THESE TWO ARE GOING TO DRIVE ME TO DRINK!!!!

I have listed below all of the items that Danali is banned from at our house.
1. Sunscreen - she is obsessed with putting it on all the time, and spreading it all over anything.
2. Chapstick and lipstick - after I found her eating my entire tube of chapstick. No kidding.
3. Sidewalk chalk - after I saw her eat an entire stick of chalk (really I am not exaggerating) and I have yet to see her write with the chalk on the ground, she just draws all over her skin.
4. Lotion - rubbed it into my black chairs and table (still can't get it out!!).
5. Stickers - she eats them.
6. Glitter Glue - for the obvious reason above.
7. Wood chips in the backyard - eats them.

Did I mention she and Berlin are the same age?

I love ya, Danali!!

Don't get me started. My favorite part about Danali is the twenty-seven doorbell salute I wake up to every morning.

Basically, here's the rule I propose. If Danali looks outside and sees my car in the driveway, she can't come over.

With all that stuff she's eating . . .my guess is that she's just hungry!

Great post by the way . . .

Hailey - I'm happy to read your blog and see photos, even though we've never met. Your family is beautiful!

Okay, TOTAL Ramona look-alike! And just a helpful tip, before it becomes a 20/20 hindsight thing: Hide the Sharpies. And the scissors.

HILARIOUS!!!! I love the little girl already!! Makes me feel like Cooper is really not that bad!!! Oh- I guess he's got a few more months to catch up and prove me WRONG!!!! I wish we were your neighbours!!! Cooper just put 'puppy 'nacks' through the fence for the neighbour puppies!!! They were ecstatic!!!

I forgot to mention that it looks like Danali also cut her own bangs?

Maybe it's because she's named after a large GMC suburban.

The funny thing is, I believe they actually own said GMC. I kid ye nay.

PS: This morning (yes, Sunday) at around 7:30am, the doorbell went a' ringin'. Guess who was standing out on our doorstep in her PJ's with chocolate (or at least I hope that's what it was) all around her mouth. Yup.

So did they spell it Danali or Denali?

“We like the name of our car and would like to name a child that same name. Well, not exactly the same name.”

Hi, Jamie sent me. We have our own Danali right now, but he’s mine, so I can’t send him home.

p.s. I think you're right about the iron deficiency. I think she has pica and should be seen by her pediatrician.
